The Shared Support Services organization at Schwab is comprised of centralized teams that support Schwab business goals through the delivery of technology, operations, projects, business continuity and offshore management. The focus is on maximizing operating leverage by integrating functions, increasing productivity and gaining efficiencies in order to better position Schwab to compete in the marketplace and to reinvest in areas that matter most to our clients.
SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Workplace Technology organization provides customers with technology and services to access and use business applications, systems and other Schwab products and services that they need in order to complete their every day jobs. Standard desktop, laptop or other personal computer configurations (e.g. blade or thin-client) and peripherals such as network printers are part of the offering as well as e-mail, remote access, and collaboration solutions. The organization provides design, engineering, and lifecycle management of the infrastructure that powers these services.
As a Technical Director in this group, you will provide technical leadership in multiple areas including strategy development for the desktop and remote access platforms. This is not a management position and can require hands-on work with the products and platforms that are described below.
Responsibilities may include:
· Develop a strategy and roadmap for the overall desktop (including laptops, Blade PCs, and VDI), remote access and Citrix platforms
· Building a capacity planning and performance testing model that is leveraged throughout the organization and play a major role in establishing desktop standards that are adhered to by the developer community
· Provide overall leadership and guidance for the Desktop Security Program that is engaged in upgrading McAfee ePO & Anti-Virus and introducing full disk encryption, data loss prevention, Host Intrusion Detection and provide ongoing maturation of the desktop security model
· Partner with vendors to understand product roadmaps, define future capabilities, and select new technology for the organization
· Act as an evangelist and lead change within the environment by working closely with peers in multiple organizations and on various steering committees and strategy groups
· Chair governance committee for review of all new desktop technology proposed for use within the organization and collaborate with TIS and Enterprise Architecture on overall standards
· Lead design reviews of Workplace Technology projects and programs and provide guidance to staff to ensure security and availability of systems are thoroughly understood
· Provide mentoring, collaboration, and consulting with Workplace Technology engineers and other technology and business groups

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required minimum qualifications:
· At least 10 years experience with Windows desktop technology with progressively increasing responsibilities
· Demonstrated expert level competency in establishing desktop strategy and leading system design for Windows infrastructure
· Demonstrated experience with VPN technologies, dual factor authentication, remote access technologies and principles, and Terminal Server technologies
· Demonstrated experience with Desktop Security (knowledge of banking and financial industry regulations) - CISSP or similar
· Experience with desktop software distribution technologies in a large enterprise environment such as Marimba or SMS
· Significant experience with all aspects of technology life cycle including planning, acquisition, introduction, operations and retirement
· ITIL (Understanding of Change & Release Management and a grounding in Technology Governance (Policy, Standards, Process Development & Outreach)
· Ability to create TCO models and determine ROIs when making technology decisions
· Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and technical understanding to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
