Organization Objective/Purpose:

The Market Data Solution (MDS) department provides real-time/streaming quotes, charts, news and decision support data to the Charles Schwab customer base. MDS strives to be the premier provider of market data technology, business solutions and expertise for Charles Schwab. We empower our business partners by consistently and proactively delivering high-quality, cost-effective market data solutions and services.

 

Brief Description of Role:

This position is responsible for ensuring availability, data quality and production support of the Market Data Ticker plant infrastructure. This is highly complex distributed windows environment which provides Market Data to key customer platforms (i.e. Schwab.com, StreetSmart Pro, StreetSmart.com, Mainframe, Schwab by Phone, Schwab Institutional). The position also includes responsibilities for acceptance testing, project support, installations, problem management and escalation. Another key support area includes a Linux based Oracle/Informatica infrastructure for delivering market data batch files. The ideal candidate would have extensive experience with support of windows, linux and scripting languages. A solid understanding of Market Data, Brokerage Systems and/or support of Distributed Database applications would be considered a plus. Coverage schedules are rotated within the team, so flexibility on work hours would also be a plus.

 

Technical/Functional Qualifications:

 Staff (56): 5 years experience with Windows/Linux systems in an operational support role.  Additional experience with scripting languages or distributed database would be considered a plus.  Successful candidates will possess strong analytical skills in addition to effective interpersonal, influencing and partnership skills.
